Advanced wound care · Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

When a wound won't heal, more oxygen can change the outcome.

HealOx Health is a medically supervised advanced wound care practice. We treat diabetic foot wounds, bone infections, radiation injury and other non-healing conditions with hyperbaric oxygen therapy at four Michigan locations.

  • Medicare and most major insurance accepted
  • Supervised by a physician, NP or PA at every session

What treatment at HealOx looks like

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers 100% oxygen at increased pressure, raising the oxygen reaching damaged tissue so the body can rebuild blood supply, fight infection and close wounds.

  1. 1

    Evaluation

A HealOx provider reviews your wound history, imaging and labs, confirms you are a candidate, and we verify your insurance benefits before anything is scheduled.

  2. 2

    Daily sessions

You rest in a clear chamber for 90 minutes at treatment pressure, about two hours door to door including pressurizing and coming back up, while a trained technician monitors you. Most wound-care plans run 20 to 40 weekday sessions. You can watch TV, listen to music or sleep.

  3. 3

    Wound care and follow-up

We photograph and measure the wound on a schedule, coordinate debridement and dressings, and send progress notes to your referring physician.

For referring physicians

A referral partner that reports back

No referral form needed. Fax the patient's demographics and clinical notes and we handle the rest: evaluation, benefit verification, authorization and scheduling. Podiatrists, vascular surgeons, radiation oncologists, infectious disease and primary care physicians refer to HealOx because their patients come back healed and they always know where things stand.

  • Evaluation scheduled within 1 business day of receiving your referral
  • Prior authorization and benefit verification handled by our team
  • Progress notes and wound measurements sent to you on a schedule
  • Your patient stays your patient; we treat and return

Four locations across Michigan

Common questions

Does Medicare cover hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Yes, for a specific list of conditions, including diabetic wounds of the lower extremities that have not improved after 30 days of standard care, chronic refractory osteomyelitis, osteoradionecrosis and soft tissue radiation injury. Our team verifies your coverage before your first appointment and tells you what, if anything, you will owe.

Does it hurt? What does a session feel like?

No. The most common sensation is fullness in the ears as pressure changes, similar to an airplane descent. Our technicians coach you through clearing your ears, and you are monitored for the whole session.

Do I need a referral?

Not necessarily. Many patients come from a referring physician, but you can also contact us directly and we will request the records we need. Self-pay wellness programs never require a referral.

How soon can I start?

Once your evaluation is complete and benefits are verified, we schedule your first session as soon as possible. Sessions run on consecutive weekdays at the location closest to you.
